Painting - Ebonize
The owners of this 5 story in the South End wanted all the wood floors (oak and pine), stair treads, newel post, balustrade and all the walnut doors on the parlor levels, stained black. To accomplish this the wood was sanded or stripped, dyed black then stained black and top coats of polyurethane or varnish were applied. The balusters, wainscoting and risers on the staircase were painted white.
